Sports Massage is used in the prevention, correction, and rehabilitation phases of therapy. Sports Massage is primarily a pro-active therapy aimed at maximising soft tissue (muscle/fascia) function. A "Relaxation" massage will ease away fatigue and tension while a Sports massage will increase range of motion and speed the recovery of soft tissue after training or competition. 

Sports massage therapy is not only available to athletes or professional sportspeople but can also be used for people that suffer injuries or trauma in their everyday lives, whether this trauma is through exercise or simple accidents.  The therapy aims to first relieve pain and then to restore function to the injured area of the body and maximum functionality of the body as a whole.

A Sports Massage therapists will employ some or all of the following functions:

·         treatment and rehabilitation of injuries

·        increase fitness and mobility

·          injury prevention and improvement in athletic performance

·          draw up an individual treatment plan appropriate to each client

·         use therapeutic modalities such as ice packs, heat packs, strapping, supplements and massage in the treatment of injuries.

Sports Massage professionals can suggest supplements that are of benefit to the client in order to complement the treatment program and to improve and or expedite the recovery process.
